Tall Timber's 2003 Fishing HighlightsBlue-Winged Olive

Tall Timber Lodge strongly encourages all anglers to
practice Catch & Release. In the immortal words of Lee Wulff,
"A good gamefish is too valuable to be caught only once. The fish you release is your gift to another angler."

April 29 - Ice Out on Back Lake ... finally!  After the mother of all winters finally ended, we're very ready to start pursuing our trout and salmon again.  Bring it on!
May 19 - Back Lake has been uncharacteristically slow for this time of year, but the fishing has been pretty good in other parts of Pittsburg.  The salmon have been pretty active in the Magalloway stretch of the Connecticut River, and Jon Howe reportedly caught and released a four pound brown trout at the Lake Francis inlet (by the campground) - we'll have to see if there were any witnesses for this one ...
Merrill.jpg (78306 bytes)May 25 -The river fishing continues to be pretty slow as a result of the lack of water flow, but Back Lake has begun producing some nice trout.  In additon to the occasional 2 - 3lb. browns that some of our guests have caught, Tall Timber veteran Levi Merrill landed this big 3.5 lb. Back lake brookie. He wouldn't tell us what he was using, but it is safe to say that he had the most success out of everyone in his group this year.
