Youre invited to join the world-class instructors of Broadside
International on the productive upper Connecticut
River
during the peak of our trout season where youll discover how to enjoy successful
days astream.
For fourteen years now, Tall Timber has hosted successful fly fishing schools offered by Broadside's International angling team. The programs provide an in-depth introduction to the wonderful world of trout and trout fishing with the fly. All aspects of the sport are covered in both the Simplified Flyfishing and the Stream Tactics and Technique programs. Each of the Weekends will include flyfishing excursions to nearby waters during "peak" times. Instructors Angus Boezeman and Alan Erdossy bring over 40 years of teaching experience to the Tall Timber programs. In addition to sharing their enthusiasm for fly fishing with anglers from Japan to the Canadian Maritimes, their International Exchange brings the finest fly fishing craftspersons to the world market.
From your first knot to the "tug-tug-tug"
of a trout, TTL courses mean successful
days astream and afloat all season long.
We received the following letter from a former student:
June 15, 1997
Dear Cindy:
Thank you for the opportunity to attend your Fly Fishing Workshop. In short, it was sensational! Alan and Angus from Broadside were fabulous. They ooze with passion for fly fishing and this aura tends to draw you right in. The class was much more than I expected. Everyone at Tall Timber was great, I had the feeling I was getting a personalized fishing class with family.
I look forward to practicing all I have learned this year and plan on attending the next class in the series next year. Thanks again.
Sincerely,
Gerry Violette
P.S.: The food was great....
Flyfishing for Trout and Salmon
Simplified Flyfishing - Broadside International - May 30 to June 1 (6 spots still left!)
Personalized instruction in casting, wading, insect
identification and fly selection. Streamcraft and tackle customization are
introduced in the classroom and reviewed streamside. Learn a variety of techniques and
skills specific to fly fishing New England waters, and practice them during prime fishing
times on the Northeast's premier fly fishing stream, the Connecticut River. This class is
designed to help participants catch trout
consistently, year-round.
June 6 to 8 (Pass It On) (6 spots still left!)
The "Pass It On" class is a session of the Simplified Flyfishing Class (as outlined above), to help experienced anglers pass on the flyfishing tradition to inexperienced anglers. Families, couples, and friends are encouraged to participate in this weekend to share the flyfishing traditions, art, literature and excitement that have attracted anglers for centuries.
Stream Tactics and Technique - Broadside International - July 11 to 13, 2008 (Plenty of openings!)
Back Lake and the pools, runs and riffles of the Upper Connecticut will be the classroom for this weekend of skill building and observation. A concentrated study of fly and insect types will be presented to prepare anglers for the challenging task of choosing and presenting the correct fly on the water. Fishing classical dry flies, wets and streamers will be compared to nymphing and modern dry fly practice. This is the peak of the dry fly season on the trophy stretch so we will concentrate on casting and fishing the floating fly. The entomology of the stream will be examined and safe wading techniques will be practiced. The full day, from dawn until after dark, of flyfishing opportunities will be sampled. The class will begin with a complete casting and terminal tackle review.
Workshop Fees are $525.00 and include:
