Tall Timber's Guide to Hiking Brosseau Mountain
Although a
relatively short mountain, it offers beautiful views of northern Vermont and New
Hampshire, highlighted by Little Averill Lake below. At the top of the mountain, the trail
eases to a cliff that makes a perfect place to have breakfast or lunch. If you're hiking
with young children, dont let them get ahead of you at the top, the cliff is
fantastic, but it could be dangerous. Once at the summit, listen for the
piercing screams of the resident peregrine falcons, one of a small number of
pairs currently nesting in Vermont. Be careful not to disturb them or their
nesting young, as they can become extremely agitated by human contact.
