Tall Timber Lodge - A Northwoods Tradition Since 1946Trying Something New!

While alot of things don't seem to change here in northern NH, we decided to try a different way of letting you know what's happening in the Great Northwoods. That's why you'll be receiving one of these occasionally (if I can manage to put the flyrod down!) to keep you up to date and also to make sure you don't forget us up here. Check it out and we hope to see you at Tall Timber soon!
winter at TTLLate Season Riding at TTL

This was one of the snowiest winters ever as many of our guests set their own seasonal mileage records. Don't think it's over though, as we still have several weeks of great riding left to go. March means uncrowded trails, seasonal temps (the sun is up that much higher and brighter), and lower Tall Timber rates. We're wide open right now for the last half of March, especially mid-week. Our "Mid Season" rates kick in to gear in the middle of the month, so make sure you check out our availability. The Rainbow Grille is also open to the end of the month, so you can relax with a top notch meal after a great day of spring riding. Give us a call at 1-800-835-6343 to make your reservation now!

The Salmon Are Running!
We're only two months away from the kick off to our fishing season, when landlocked salmon are pursuing smelt, their favorite spring prey. The action often gets pretty hot, especially in the afternoon, as water temps rise and insect hatches flurry in to motion. It isn't just streamer fishing that works best - fishermen do really well on early season may fly patterns and nymphs. Take a look at our Fishing Highlights page to check the success of our previous guests at this time of year. The best areas for those chasing the salmon are the Magalloway Stretch of the Connecticut River and the lower end of the Trophy Stretch. The middle two weeks of May usually mark the beginning and end of the run. Take advantage of our "Mid Season" rates to catch this great gamefish!

Once again, Jon Howe of Northern Rivers Guide Service will be heading our guide services here at the Lodge. Jon brings a lifetime of experience in wading and floating the various stretches of the Connecticut and Androscoggin Rivers.

We are also proud to have Dianne Matott of Elkhair Guide Service on staff for the 2008 season. Dianne specializes in casting instruction for all levels of anglers and wading the Connecticut River. Dianne will also be floating the Connecticut River this summer. Please visit our Fishing page for more info on Jon's and Dianne's services.
