TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE
OVER NEW HAMPSHIRE
ON APRIL 8, 2024

ON APRIL 8, 2024, A TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE WILL DARKEN NORTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE'S SKIES IN ONE OF NATURE'S MOST AWE-INSPIRING SHOWS.

For 3 minutes and 15 seconds, skies will dim, temperatures will drop, and the country will pause to watch as the moon passes over the light of the sun, completely blocking its light. The total solar eclipse visits New Hampshire on April 8, 2024 beginning at 3:28 pm EDT with the final exit of the Moon’s shadow from the state at 3:31 pm EDT. Through New Hampshire, the speed of the Moon’s shadow will accelerate from about 2666 miles per hour to about 2906 miles per hour.

The northern third of New Hampshire gets a total solar eclipse! Be prepared to see the greatest sight nature offers, a total eclipse of the Sun, and
Back Lake is the perfect spot for the full experience.

Simply put, a total eclipse of the Sun is the most beautiful sight you will ever see in the sky. Nothing can prepare you for the amazing sight when the sky suddenly darkens and the Sun’s corona shines in the sky. No photograph can capture the stunning beauty of a total solar eclipse, you must see it for yourself, and we ask that you do this SAFELY.
To Enjoy Your Stay During the Eclipse,
Please Read the Following:
  • Enjoy the Eclipse safely! We will be providing NASA approved Solar Eclipse Viewing Glasses for all of our guests. Make sure you only view the Eclipse with your glasses ON. Also, don't forget that it will be early April in northern New Hampshire. That means it could be spring-like, or still the depths of winter - bring boots and warm clothing to enjoy the Eclipse.

  • Plan on bringing all of the food and beverages you will need during your stay. Pittsburg has two small stores, which will probably be very busy on the day of the Eclipse. Traffic on Route 3 and the town roads is expected to be heavy during the Eclipse.

  • The following Pittsburg restaurants will be open during the Eclipse (April 7 & 8) - you will want to contact them for more information on their hours and events.

    Murphy's Steakhouse
    3329 US 3, Pittsburg
    Full Send
    2772 N. Main St., Pittsburg
    Buck Rub Pub
    2253 N. Main St., Pittsburg
    1840
    8 Back Lake Rd., Pittsburg

  • Due to the amount of traffic that is expected, we recommend that our guests enjoy the Eclipse from the Tall Timber property, or the properties of our various offsite houses that we rent around Back Lake.

  • Fuel up your vehicle on the way to Pittsburg, prior to check in. Our town has three small gas stations, which may become overwhelmed with the amount of traffic that is expected for the Eclipse.

  • The ice on Back Lake may be unstable at that time of year. Please do not venture out on the ice to get a better look at the Eclipse.

  • Cell service may be a challenge during the Eclipse. Internet may be slow or non-existent due to the number of users.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO ENJOYING THIS EVENT WITH YOU AT TALL TIMBER.
LET'S HOPE IT'S A CLEAR SUNNY DAY ON APRIL 8!
